Use of Tarot in individual and group therapy
I incorporate tarot as a reflective tool to support psychodynamic exploration with both individuals and groups. I invite clients to engage with the imagery of the cards as a way to project and process unconscious thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns that may be difficult to access directly. In group settings, tarot can foster shared insight and dialogue, helping members deepen empathy and better understand both their own inner experiences and the dynamics within the group.
tarot Workshops
Workshops using my Tarot For Emotional Insight Workbook help individuals and groups become more connected and emotionally attuned in their lives and work. Participants learn to change narratives that have kept them feeling scared, hopeless, and unmotivated. This experience also allows people to focus on their strengths, where they thrive, and the successful traits they already possess, helping them feel more grounded in themselves and their relationships.

Sample Workshop Agenda
Organization type: Nonprofit with 20 employees taking the workshop.
Participant Focus: A new project is about to begin, and you would like employees to meditate on how they can best show up for this endeavor.
Tarot Card: The Fool. This card indicates you are at the beginning of a new journey and in the energy of childlike innocence, play, or excitement. This is a moment to take risks.
Workshop Schedule:
Grounding Exercise
Brief explanation of the card’s meaning and themes.
Go around the room (virtual or in person), and each participant says what they notice in the card, what these themes bring up for them, and how it relates to the start of the new project.
Using the workbook, we move through two writing prompts. These focus on what strengths or fears this card brings up. If neither prompt resonates with a participant, they will be invited to write a story, essay, or poem inspired by the card and will be asked to reflect on how it relates to their emotions about their work or themselves.
A facilitated group discussion follows, allowing people to share, connect, and relate around how they can support each other in weak spots and build on what each person feels they contribute to make the project a success.
Close with a grounding practice.
Every participant will receive a complete Tarot For Therapy Workbook, which includes all 78 Tarot cards with emotionally focused prompts for each one.
Why This is Different than the Average Workshop
As a psychotherapist over the last fifteen years, I’ve noticed a trend that feelings and how to identify and deal with them are really hard for most people.
Often, my patients will say I’m anxious or depressed and not understand what emotions are driving those states.
Utilizing tarot in a group or workshop allows participants to do so much more than just a boring lecture on how to be more strategic, get more out of work or life, or how to relate to others or yourself in a healthier way.
Tarot helps people understand their feelings and engage with them more meaningfully. Whether you are visual (the imagery on the card), intellectual (understanding the meaning of the card), or emotional (seeing the emotions it brings up), tarot gives people a way to talk about their thoughts and feelings in new ways that provide more curiosity, insight, and connection. If that is what you are looking for in your friend group, employees, or organization, this is for you.
